Hypnosis and the benefits of deep breathing

Essentially, the word hypnosis is just another word for relaxation. Yes hypnosis is brought on by suggestion, but it’s that deep state of relaxation that qualifies hypnosis. I sometimes use the term creative relaxation. When I say that, I’m referring to the fact that it’s the use of hypnosis that I call therapy. I’ve always defined hypnosis as just what it is, an altered state of awareness through deep relaxation.

Some people define relaxing as just taking time to read through a magazine or have a cup of tea. But really just changing activities is not relaxation. When you reach a state of total relaxation through hypnosis, you will see the difference. And it’s in this really relaxed state that you can bring some balance back into your life. Some people call it recharging their batteries or use any other metaphoric term, but it all means the same thing.

Real, deep, relaxation used daily or regularly has a terrific effect on all our internal systems, far beyond what a coffee break can do.

As to the question of whether sleep is equivalent to relaxation, most of us know from experience that it is not. Experts even state that hypnosis, or deep relaxation, is really more favourable to the overall well-being than merely sleeping nightly. We know that sleep can be disturbed by stressful energies and that we can wake up feeling even less rested, less energized, than when we went to sleep. But a intentionally executed session in hypnosis, or relaxation, has you concentrating very pointedly on just that, relaxing. You lie very still, and you let only positive energy consume you. Essentially, when you practice self-hypnosis, you control the result by guiding the entire session. All hypnosis is based on total relaxation. This is certainly more favourable than just going to sleep because you are tired.

Power naps are useful in recharging as well, and addressing fatigue, but during deep relaxation or hypnosis, you are also making the opportunity to reduce or alleviate a specific ailment through concentration. Sleep, whilst absolutely essential, doesn’t allow this opportunity. Whether you spend ten or twenty minutes a day or several times a week, practicing self hypnosis, you are certain in a few small weeks to feel a difference in your life, to feel more balanced, and more relaxed, and more in tune physically, emotionally, and in every other way.

There are probably hundred of ways you can achieve a deep state of relaxation, but they have one common element, which is deep breathing. It is a natural human occurrence that when you exhale, your body relaxes. This is a known fact, and a biological certainty. That’s why it’s the first thing that a medical professional will question a patient to do when he wants his patient to relax.

In any type of emergency or panic situation, the victim is always instructed to take deep breaths. This is intended to cool, or relax the individual.

The more deeply you inhale, the more you will exhale, and therefore the more you will relax. So when we want to induce hypnosis, deep breathing is the first suggestion we make, typically because it starts to bring on relaxation. And when the person starts to relax and regulate their breathing, they will become gradually more relaxed.

We know also that when we sleep, our breathing slows and settles into a silent, deep rhythm. We seek to achieve the same thing in hypnotic induction, to slow the breathing rhythm, because slowing our breathing slows down our system, and helps to bring approximately a shift in awareness. We achieve this state by slowing a person’s breathing naturally and comfortably.

Starting an induction with a few deep breaths immediately makes a shift, and sends the message to the person that now it’s time to relax. When you add concentration to the equation, you have a terrific recipe for hypnotic induction. Because concentrating on your breathing helps you become more aware of your internal experience. A person’s breathing sample can often be a telling sign for a hypnotist that a subject has achieved a deep state of relaxation, and slipped into a state of hypnosis.

In my hypnotherapy dublin sessions I don’t impose any set technique to deep breathing. Whatever a person’s natural breathing method is what they should continue to do. There seems to be a typical sample of breathing in through the nose, while exhaling out the mouth. Whether that’s the comfortable breathing technique fro someone, that’s perfect. Whether it’s in and out through the nose, that’s also fine. Whatever you are used to or whatever comes naturally.

Cat-hypnosis : does hypnosis work ?

I was researching something for school approximately hypnosis and I chose to pull a prank on my cat just out of whim thinking I could hypnotize him. So what happened was I took him to my lap and I got a nice shiny pendant that I got off the internet that claims to have hypnotic effects. I tried to place my cat in a hypnotic trance by swaying the pendant back and forth but unfortunately my cat kept trying to seize the shiny trinket. I kept on telling him it’s not a toy but really, I must be crazy trying this out on a cat right? (LOL) I could just try doing this to my 5-year ancient niece, that way whether anything happens, I could just deny it. (Evil smile)

Kidding aside, I hypnotized my cat in useless because unfortunately, he just does not have the IQ nor the attention span to be hypnotized and animals are just not open to suggestions since they are ran by instincts which is different for us humans. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed; I kind of hoped I could have made some sort of scientific breakthrough or something by being the first to hypnotize an animal or to place them in a hypnotized induced trance. (ROFL) My sister is coming over soon to drop off my niece; perhaps I should really try it on to her. As they say, hypnosis can only work on people who are more open to it and who have the IQ to know. So I’m certain my smart and harmless niece would really be able to help me this time with my experiment. But don’t worry I won’t hypnotize her into thinking she’s the cat or anything I reckon there’s a law against that. (LOL)

After I passed all my research on hypnotism, I hope to etch into every reader’s intellect that there is always an alternative way out there like hypnosis relaxation which can help in their problems. There are many free online self-hypnosis websites out there and there’s even a hypnosis video in youtube so it shouldn’t be tough to try it out.

Hypnosis to your past life?

Have you heard approximately some claims that a person being hypnotized would lead them to dream approximately their past life? It would be fascinating huh. There’s someone who claimed that she was Cleopatra and whether or not this person is a nut job, I still thought it would be fascinating to find out whether things like reincarnation were right or not. Hypnosis could be the key to unlocking the inner doors of your sub-consciousness or it might be just you surrendering to the power of suggestion.

I have yet to find proof of such claims though. Hypnosis has been around for a long time but it has only until recently that it was acknowledged by the medical society. It could be that research is still undergoing approximately all the possibilities of hypnosis but as of now, it has been accepted but not really a medical cure since it really has no medical support. So anyone who is reading this should know that they should be wary of those quack jobs out there who reckon that Hypnosis can really cure everything and that even more so when they claim that hypnosis can really lead you to your past life. There are licensed professionals out there so it’s better whether you really consult them so don’t just go to any psychic or whatever because it might be something you will regret later on.

People who have tried hypnosis do claim and swear they have felt its benefits as cure of their illnesses but I still am a bit skeptical as to the matter. I don’t know whether I can trust tweaking something in my sub-consciousness as it could result to irreversible hurt or something. Hypnosis relaxation is okay for me to try out sometime but I need to be certain by talking to a lot more people who have tried it. You see where I’m from, alternative remedies such as hypnosis relaxation or herbal medicine is gaining popularity so I guess it would be a matter of time before I try it out.
